A friend has cats and had to pay a fortune for worm medication. Is there a herb that would work?

What kind of de-wormer did she buy for her cats? We went to the feed store and bought Pyrantel which is a de-wormer and it was quite cheap. We got it for probably $5 an ounce or there about. And it only takes a little to de-worm the cats. I haven’t tried herbs for it de-worming but would like to learn more.

I’m not sure but here in Canada we have to go to a vet to get the worm medicine so

              it’s not cheap!

Ohhhh, I see…I didn’t know that about Canada. I wonder if you can buy it from an online place and ship to Canada. In the US, it is definitely easy to come by. Like Greg said, herbs could be used if you can get them into your cat. I know Doc said that they put up a big fight. Our own cat is actually pretty compliant as long as we mix in some canned food as well.

Check out any of the herbs listed as Anthelmintics, those specifically go after worms in different ways such as mechanically pushing the worms out, irritating them to leave voluntarily, or actually killing them.

Start at slide 30 for the Anthelmintics. However, good luck getting herbs into cats. I’ve not tried but Doc says to make sure you have your will written just in case and all your affairs in order before you go in

This lesson talks about common animal issues and herbs including worms. The difficulty is that getting that formula into a cat will be challenging.

my cat has been having tape worms.    I reasearched online and found pumpkin seeds will help.  All i had were roasted pumpkin seeds, so daily i would  get the seeds out of the shell and chop them and power them w the back of my knife.(1/2 tsp)  My cat would actually eat them in about a tbsp of canned food.      Ran out of those and got actual pumpkin seed in bulk at store,  and that worked WAY better.     And now i’m giving him about 5 drops of the HGH worm formula with a bit of water and canned food and he’s eating it down no problem.    This is a cat how is very food picks, and we’ve had absolutley horrible times getting any kind of medication down him so i’m thrilled that i can help him with herbs .  hope that helps
