Hello! I was wondering if immunity and other illness herbs are safe to take while breastfeeding. I know when your pregnant there are some herbs you can’t take but is that the case for breastfeeding as well?

Yes, just like when one is pregnant there are certain herbs that aren’t suitable for breastfeeding moms. If an herb is safe for a pregnant woman than it’s safe for a breastfeeding mama. There’s an Immunity formula in the shop specifically for pregnancy that would be a good option.

I’m currently working on a whole line of pregnancy-safe and lactation-safe formulas. In the mean time….listen to HerbalMama. Good advice there.

Certainly don’t take any herbs with berberine (Oregon grape, barberry, goldenseal, coptis, etc…) in them while nursing. They can cause brain damage in the little rascal.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
