StudentMy hubby just took blood pressure it is VERY high. He’s weaning off several medications right now and has been on testosterone for several years, any of which could be the culprit (we’re trying to figure that out now) but in the meantime I’m looking for herbs that can help him–I searched the forum and read that cayenne is good. Is that correct? Anything else that you guys recommend?
Also, how quickly can we expect to see a reduction in pressure as they want to put him on high blood pressure drugs.

Our blood pressure formula is a TONIC and it takes time for it to be effective, at least in my experience. I do not know of any quick acting herbs for HBP.

Homestead InstructorThe causes of High blood pressure can vary a lot.
This formula worked well for my wife.
I can’t make any predictions on when or if it will help. If it isn’t helping within a month or so, I’d try something else. Be careful mixing herbs with blood pressure meds. Before doing so you should consult with someone who understands them both.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentTopic AuthorThanks for the suggestion. I looked at your Blood Pressure ingredients: Hawthorn, Lindon, Gingko, Valerian, Cayenne — if I want to make this at home, did you do equal parts of these herbs? How many times a day did your wife take this? If just once a day, did she take this it night–just wondering if that’s the way to go with the Valerian in it.

2 Hawthorn
2 Lindon
1 Ginkgo
1 Valerian
1/2 Cayenne
There’s not enough valerian to make you very sleepy. She took it twice a day for awhile and hasn’t taken it now for a few years.

Dropped mine about 20 points after a few weeks. I am still high but am hoping continued use will eventually work on my system.

Steven, you could try increasing your dosage and/or frequency a bit.

Is your hi-bp formula ok to use for a diabetic too? My husband has HP & is type 2….I’ve got high BP too, and a heart murmur (hasn’t bothered me since I was 3, not even after 4 kids & Godzilla + stress for 23 yrs).

I’m not aware of anything in the formula that would interfere with diabetes protocols. But I’m just some nut on the internet an not a physician. I’d consult your doctor.

LOL Unfortunately, none of his Dr’s know anything about herbs….they think its “quack medicine” & all unsafe & dangerous (obviously they never read the side effects of the medications they push :hee hee: ) so, even though I’m not seeking medical advice…I’d definitely prefer a nut on the internet that has some idea about herbs, vs the md’s that prefer to kill us with their prescriptions 😉
I’ll check out the formula more……I know St. John’s Wort (not sure if its in the formula) has interactions with some prescriptions…but that’s as good as I get LOL :thumb:

They obviously never read the medical journals from 100 years ago either.

There’s a lot of Idaho Dr’s that get paid big bucks to push the pharmaceutical drugs (there was an article in the T-N a few years back), so unless herbs can somehow pay them too….. I don’t think the general MD is going to take time out to learn. Plus, his Dr. is a VA Dr. so you barely have them willing or know how to properly treat you to begin to throw herbs at them & ask them if they’d work better…..never gonna know.

My VA “doc” in Twin is quite up on some traditional methods and respects my efforts in that regard. He was quite impressed with my 40 point drop in BP.

There’s 2 he deals with in twin, I know one isn’t very good (previous experience with another client), not sure of the other one though. But if there’s one that’s ok with herbs…..then I’ll go to his next appt & talk to them. They put him on a bad pain killer that flipped his personality (temper). The last time we talked about him getting on herbs, they said that it was against his treatment & could affect his disability.

StudentIf someone is currently taking blood pressure medication, is it possible that they could start the blood pressure H formula and then possibly decrease the prescription medication over time if the blood pressure started coming down?

StudentHi, does anyone have experience with taking hawthorn (or Doc’s BP formula) while on beta blockers? I know we have to be very careful using herbs with pharmaceuticals.

StudentI read a study that stated Hibiscus gives really good results. I have HBP and Diabetes. Went all herbal with the HBP.. My formula is 3 Hibiscus, 2 Hawthorne, 2 Lindon,1 Motherwort . I also take a cayenne cap. Cayenne equalizes you blood pressure around your system.
I have had good results. Eventually I’m gonna work on a Diabetes. I’m on Metformin right and I am not fond of what it does to the digestion system. Onward and Upward.
