I attended a class this past weekend at PrepperCon 2016 where Dr. Jones gave a presentation. During his talk he mentioned that a teaspoon of dried herbs mixed in a glass of water was about one dose for an adult.

I bought some tinctures from his booth that are specific to pain management because my wife’s hip often hurts. I assume the joint tincture is the one she should take, correct? I know you can’t prescribe medication so, if you were taking this for your own hip pain, how much tincture would you take (1 drop? 10 drops?) to ease your hip pain, how would likely take it (1 drop or 10 drops in a glass of water?), and how often would you likely take it?

Thanks for your help! I really enjoyed Dr. Jone’s presentation!

I may have answered my own question by searching the internet a little more.

Q: If you were taking this for your own hip pain, how much tincture would you take to ease your hip pain?

A: A standard suggested adult dosage for tinctures is 2 droppersful. A dropperful equals approximately 30 drops.

          Q:How would likely take it?

A: Take the tincture directly under the tongue and avoid any liquids or foods for at least 15 minutes afterwards.

Q: How often would you likely take it?

A: two to three times a day

Does this info look about right?

You might want to reconsider the “under the tongue” suggestion. I put my tincture into water and it seems to work just fine. Under the tongue might get it into your system faster but would you want two droppers of CAYENNE tincture under your tongue? :scared: :boggle:

It is ALWAYS better to start at a lower dose. Our suggestion is 10-30 drops. That is at least until you know how the herb will react in YOUR body. If you need more it is easier to do that. If you take too much you are stuck with the reaction you MIGHT get.

Thanks for the response! I’ll tell my wife to follow your recommendations. She hadn’t started using it yet so that’s good.

Under the tongue is the fastest way to get a tincture into you but, as Steven said, depending on the herb it may be an intense flavor experience. The joint herbs seem to be particularly un-tasty.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
