have found your videos on Youtube and saw that you are veterinarian as well as a herbalist.

We are desperate and have a question:

We have a 2 year old, male, neutered Boston terrier (30 lbs) that presented seizures about a year ago. The seizures became more frequent and violent. We ended up in an Vet ER and he was put on Phenobarbitol 16.2mg. This worked for about 4 weeks. Than the seizures returned. We have done a spinal tap and MRI, both came back negative and nobody can tell us why the dog has seizures. Since our first visit to the ER we had 3 more visits in the ER because the seizures wouldn’t stop. He is now on 6 medications as follows: Phenobarbitol 64.8mg /12hr, Phenobarbitol 16.2mg/12hr, Topiramate 50mg/12 hr, Zonisamide 100mg/12 hr and Levetiracetam 500mg/12 hr and thousands of dollars into our journey. I do not see that the medications are working and believe we will be back at the vet in a couple of weeks.

I began my own research and decided to put my dog on a balanced raw food diet, supplementing with MCT oil/coconut oil. He is been on it for 3 days.

I tried to talk to the vet about putting my dog on a raw food diet but they told me not to do it. I am doing it any way because I feel I have nothing to lose.

Is there an herb or herbalmedicine that we could include to help my pup?

I hope that you can help us.

I am looking forward to your response.

I don’t know why the raw food diet would be a problem.

There are a few herbs I’ve used to help epilepsy cases. Passionflower and skullcap mostly. I wouldn’t combine either with the meds he’s on and, in a case like that, I’d guess the herbs wouldn’t work better than the meds.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
