Studenthello, this is my first post …. thought i would mention, i have been around nearly 70 years… have been using witch hazel compresses with much success most of my life for injury related swelling and bruising… learned this when i ran away from home and joined the race track at 17 years old… it is very effective on race horses and a treatment of choice along with icing… in case any one is interested… i am sure i will have lots of questions as my studies progress… best wishes to all… Thank you Doc for the opportunity to learn more and become proficient in herbal practice… a lifew long interest of mine finally coming to fruition

StudentThank you for the info! I had no idea about witch hazel compresses. I have always used Arnica for helping to reduce bruises and swelling.

StudentI just saw a You Tube video the other day, by another herbalist. She infused magnesium chlor- something flakes (pretty sure it’s a well-known brand of bath salts) ;), comfrey leaves, and elder leaves with witch hazel to make a bruise spritz. I am definitely interested in trying that!
