Homestead InstructorHi Sharon, Have a look at the pancreas lesson. We talk about some of those things there.
Also, the herbs in this formula are often helpful for lowering blood sugars. Don’t combine them with sugar lowering medications.

StudentAre blood sugars that remain in a normal range 1-2 hours postprandial but was light in carbs (ie under 140) but yet fasting levels remain too high (100-115) considered insulin resistant?
How long does it normally take before a person would see results from the herbs to lower blood sugar? Would there be more of an ideal time to take the herbs?

Homestead InstructorThose types of herbs are best taken with the meal. If you’re going to see results, you’ll usually see them within a week or so.

StudentI was originally put on metformin 🙁 It did nothing to help. The doctors kept wanting to increase my dosage more and more so I basically told my husband that I was quitting metformin even if I couldn’t find a herbal substitute! Best move I ever made. I take berberine and bitter melon. Berberine comes from yellow root which is endangered but you can also get it from barberry. I grow the white bitter melon- dry it and then put it in capsules. I want to do some research on possibly making a tincture with it. Also, I find that doing keto with intermittent fasting has also helped enormously

Homestead InstructorYup. Berberine has some significant benefits for managing blood sugars. Barberry and Oregon grape (identical medicinally…they used to be in the same genus) are both good sources.
