I have a gal that’s allergic to Plantain. Is there an herb that is as good as Plantain at drawing out toxins, to replace it in the poultice tincture?

It may depend upon the problem. For example a baking soda paste can work well on bee stings but external castor oil packs can be used for organs.

I tried to edit my reply but it doesn’t seem to have worked.

You were talking specifically about the poultice tincture and I gave other options for more non poultice use !

My understanding is ground flax seed is really good and it contains mucilage.

Yes! It is especially effective when it is freshly ground.

Just to clarify, are you wanting to replace plantain in Doc’s Poultice formula? This one?

                  6 Comfrey Root
                  2 Calendula Flower
                  2 Flax Seed
                  2 Marshmallow Root
                  2 Plantain Leaf
                  1 Lobelia Aerial Parts
                  1 Yarrow Flower/Aerial Parts
                  .25 Cayenne Pepper (1 Tbs)

The flax, cayenne and comfrey all have drawing action. I think you have your bases covered if you want to just leave plantain out. 🙂 Even without plantain, this formula can definitely draw out pus and toxins.
