I hope this is the proper place to post this question, I apologize if it isn’t. My wife has been dealing recently with excruciating stabbing pain from a hemorrhoid. She can’t sleep, she can’t find a comfortable position. Her doctors have prescribed suppositories, and recently some high dollar concoction she had to get at a compounding pharmacy – and none of these have touched the pain. She is spending huge amounts of time in a hot bath, otherwise the only thing she has had ANY luck with is pachouli essential oil, and even that isn’t relieving all the pain.

Is there an herbal remedy that will help her with this problem? She is a great believer in natural remedies, but has not been able to find anything to help her with this pain. Any help will be greatly appreciated…. Thanks!

          I would try these two:

          For the hemorrrhoids internally:

          For the pain at night:

A sitz bath with a good astringent like cranesbill can help too.

A lotion of yarrow and plantain is nice and helps. IFf you don’t want to go to the trouble of making a lotion, just mix the herbs with some aloe vera gel.

John Christopher said a peeled clove of garlic poked into the caboose worked well too. I haven’t known anyone that’s tried that one. :boggled:

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

After I gave birth to my children, I found an ice pack “down there” to be much more soothing than a hot bath. The sitz baths likewise, were lukewarm/cool, not hot. If constipation is involved, I highly recommend prune juice. Yes, it is an acquired taste, but the relief it offers is oh, so sweet!
