I’m still new at this, so I want to double check my thought process here — to relieve stiff/painful arthritic hands and hips when breastfeeding, would it be beneficial to make a salve or lotion with the joint support powder? That would remove the contraindications from the Devil’s claw if I understand it right? My thought is to combine that with the nutritive blend internally. I’ve got a fussy gallbladder to work around also.

While I’m asking questions, I need a metamucil replacement for my husband. I’m not convinced he needs it, but my inlaws are (family history of redundant colon). I was just going to get the Psyllium Husk but it looks like Doc’s colon blend has a few other things – is there anything in there that can’t be taken long-term?

I know these are beginner questions, but…I’m a beginner. 🙂

          Hi Rebecca!

Personally, I would avoid using any of the herbs that aren’t considered safe for breastfeeding, even topically.  A super great, and safe for breastfeeding herb for joint pain would be turmeric, mixed with black pepper of course. A number of years ago I used the turmeric and black pepper for extreme joint pain due to having lupus.  It worked every bit as good as Advil.  It didn’t relieve the pain as quickly, or last as long, but was amazing relief. At the time, I knew nothing about dosing like what Doc teaches us or I easily could have stayed ahead of the pain with it.  See what you think. ☺️

I agree with Wendy. Also, don’t forget about heat and cold to manage pain and inflammation while you nurse. After weaning, then try the joint joint formula. The frankincense in the formula very well change the taste of your milk, even topically applied.
