StudentIf I remember correctly, during a plant walk Doc said that the liver could be healed with herbs. I’m not sure what liver problems we were discussing at the time. What liver diseases do you know can possibly be healed with herbs? And, which herbs would you suggest? Also, if the liver is not functioning properly is it best to use a tincture rather than the whole herb to help with absorption?
Thanks for your help. It seems as soon as my extended family found out I was learning about herbs people keep asking me for help. I keep wishing I had answers. I keep learning as quick as I can:) So, thanks for being so willing to help!! It means a lot to my family.

It means a lot to US too.
I do remember Patrick mentioning something about some liver conditions being able to be reversed with herbs….. Yeah, that is about as far as that got. 🙁
Regarding the tincture vs powder situation it should not matter. The only thing I can think of is if the condition was brought on by alcohol you may want to skip that.

Homestead InstructorThe liver, unlike most organs, is capable of significant regeneration. The exception to that would be cirrhoisis which is irreversible scarring of the liver. Other than that, it’s a pretty forgiving organ. Milk thistle and cleavers are both good liver restoratives that can help the liver in this process.
There is a lot of more specific info in the Liver & Gall Bladder module.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentTopic AuthorDo you know how quickly cleavers works in the body and for how long the effect lasts? This is important info to determine:
1. How often to take it for liver restoring?
2. How long to take it for liver restoring?
3. How often to take it for lymph movement?

I had a lymph issue a few years ago. I took one Steven sized dose and it went away in one day and has never come back that I am aware of.
My guess is most would normally need a longer regimen.
Lifestyle has a LOT to do with your questions too.

Lymphatic movement is often very quick with cleavers. Liver restoration takes much longer. Milk thistle is excellent too. In a serious liver case, I would take both.
Actually, I’d take this: https://homegrownherbalist.net/products/liver-builder

That depends on a lot of variables. Have we determined what the problem is yet?

StudentTopic AuthorWhat about in the case of a life time of overtaxed liver due to toxins and less than optimal food choices?
Or, fatty liver?

Both are reversible if the causative behaviors are ceased.

It depends on too many variables to predict.
