So after searching everywhere here for the answer, I’m going to ask DOC about the formulas (and there are 13 of them by my count) that have Lobelia in the formula, but no mention of using apple cider vinegar (ACV) in the making of the formula.  Those are all still using the 1:5 ratio with alcohol.  So you might understand my confusion!  Any help is welcome as I am trying to make some of these formulas.  Thanks in advance.

So looking into it a bit, it seems like the reason to add in vinegar to a Lobelia tincture is to make it a bit less potent on the puking side. I would imagine having the lobelia in the formula, it would already be less potent than as a single tincture, so you should be fine tincturing the whole thing. However, if you’re concerned about it, I would suggest tincturing just a small bit of the formula and seeing how you react to it and just keep in mind that too much of the tincture would not be a good thing. Maybe Doc will chime in soon and say for certain one way or the other

Thanks Greg – I can use Doc’s 1:5 with alcohol only just fine, but he does state that he prefers making lobelia with ACV (I believe it is because it extracts different/better) so I would think that it would somehow make the formula very different.  What I wonder also is if he prefers it with acv, why sell it as a 1:5 alcohol only?  I hope Doc can weigh in on this.
