Hey all, looking for some insights from Doc Jones or anyone who wants to chime in. My dog was diagnosed with primary lung cancer from xrays taken yesterday. Was kind of an incidental finding as we took xrays of her front legs and neck for episodes of pain, but also threw in some chest xrays because she has been coughing for over a year.

Xrays were sent to veterinary radiologist, and the report indicates the pain episodes are most likely from IVDD (which is what I was expecting) but what I didn’t expect was them finding a 6.5cm mass in her right caudal lung lobe. I am gutted.

At the moment, my initial decision is not to pursue oncology referral, as she is a nervous dog and I think the stress of additional testing and treatment is not worth the small amount of time I could potentially extend her life. I have decided to keep her as comfortable as I can for as long as I can, and she has been started on Gabapentin for her ivdd pain to keep her a bit more comfortable.

That being said, I would like to support her energetically and herbally but being a new student, I have no idea what to give her. She also has a history of pancreatitis and has a gall bladder stone that was another incidental finding from yesterday’s xrays. Since she has other issues going on, I don’t want to give her something that might incite something else. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks
