Even though my question is not about a local medicinal or herb I have a ton of dried Hibiscus flower. Can anyone share what they know about the medicinal uses of this dried flower?

It’s in the malvaceae family with mallow, marshmallow and holly hock.

I’ll do a lesson on it but here’s the short list: it’s Anti-inflammatory, Antioxidant, Antimicrobial, Cardiotonic, Cholesterol-lowering, Diuretic, Hypotensive, Astringent and Demulcent.

Like most herbs, it has a really hard time making up its mind.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Are these medicinal properties also active in Rose of Sharon shrubs,  Hibiscus syriacus?  It is malvaceae family, and self-sows everywhere.  It would be a game changer for harvesting it locally to say the least!

Rose of Sharon is medicinal too. I’ll do little single herb lessons on both of those kids.
