What is the process or end product called? The Chinese do this as well, was hoping someone who has studied or is familiar with Chinese herbal medicine could help.
The plant material with the sugar is left for approx 6 mths or more. Did this with comfrey, it’s black and tar like in consistency. The trick is to vitamize the plant material first, weigh it and add equal amt of fine sugar.
Thoughts on benefits: No heating of plant material, therefore less denaturation. Sugar will break down plant matter with time. Whole plant is eaten, no loss of minerals. Long term storage.
Found out about this through Korean Natural Farming, we can also use this method to make medicine and it will keep for a long time. My thoughts cough syrup.
I asked AI online but it didn’t help me.
Mixing equal amounts of sugar with fresh plant material without water results in a moist, sugary substance; this is not a specific, named product like a solution or a syrup, but rather a mixture where the sugar absorbs moisture from the plant material. The texture and composition will vary depending on the type of plant material and the sugar used. For example, if using a moist plant material like fruit, the result will be a sticky, jam-like substance.
