I gave my cows minerals yesterday (same as they have had before) and some preventative parasite stuff (the weather just got crazy warm and wet here) that contains things like cinnamon, garlic, alfalfa, DE, Remond Conditioner Salt. They all had some loose stool this morning but my one Jersey cow (with a nursing calf -calved in August), Buttercup, has liquid stool with bright red blood, she isn’t really chewing her cud, she looks like she feels terrible. She ate some alfalfa pellets that I used to separate her from the group of 2 other cows and the 2 calves – one of those cows is kind of a bully to Buttercup. She let the calf nurse. She has a little bit of a hunched back like she keeps needing to go potty.
I saw her eat some hay just now and I think I can get some more alfalfa pellets into her with some water and herbs. My herbal book suggests slippery elm and honey. Would you offer any other suggestions? I considered blackberry root but if she has diarrhea because she got too many minerals, she might need the diarrhea to flush it out. She is a purebred Jersey, 4th gen pasture raised, no grain if it makes a difference.
        Help please.
