I want to make a tincture with my motherwort. 40% 1:4 ratio ok? Also would you recommend combining with Hawthorn or keeping them separate? 🙂

First, I like to keep my herbs separate unless it is for a long term use combination. Once combined they cannot be separated!

The ratio depends on if the material is fresh or dry. Most fresh material tinctures are done at a 1:2 ratio. Would also suggest a higher proof hooch since the plant will release its own water into the mix.

I usually get a 1:3 to 1:5 ratio out of my dried and ground herbs. All depends on how fine I can get them ground up. Harder to get a low ratio with material that is not ground as it tries to take up a lot of space.
