I have a bag of dried mullein that I bought.  Can I steep some in hot water and drink for lung health?

Mullein tea would be great for that.  You might want to strain the tea through a cloth before drinking, as there are small hairs that can irritate your throat.

Cindy, how was your mullein tea?  Hope your lungs are on the mend.

I have been listening to Doc Jones for about 2 years in my spare time trying to absorb the knowledge.  I recently joined the HGH School and very glad I did. Thanks DOC!

I was visiting a friend’s property in another state and discovered mullein for the first time.  I received permission to take some leaves since I do not have near me in the city.  Upon my return, I made mullein tea and mullein cough syrup.  I found them very soothing.  I think I like the mullein tea without any sweetener.   I have acquired several additional books along the way and my favorite so far is “Backyard Pharmacy, Weeds that Heal” by Rachel Weaver M.H.  Her chapter on Mullein gave recipe for “Mullein Tea: 6 young inner mullein leaves + 5cups boiling water + honey if desired.  Use green or dry leaves, break into small pieces add to boiling water. Cover and steep 5-10 minutes.  Strain and serve.”  I usually double the recipe and when cooled fill large glass jars or pitcher and drink 3c/day

Rachel’s “Mullein Syrup: Make a tea with 1 quart of boiling water and 1cup of dried leaves.  Let steep for 15minutes. Strain out leaves. Reduce the tea to 1/2 (=1 pint) of liquid by slowly simmering until the water evaporates.  Add 2-3 Tablespoons of molasses or honey to make a syrup.  Keep in the refrigerator.  Use as an expectorant or cough syrup.” Servings are just like HGH: Adults-1 teaspoon; Children 1/2 t and 1/4t for the smaller children.  “Repeat as needed.”

I sent mullein leaves with recipe to my son and his wife in the fall when they were complaining of cough.  When I saw them for Thanksgiving gathering at another family members home, they had brought their homemade cough syrup for their 4yr old son and were so very thankful for the mullein stating that all 3 of them had success using it.  I was so excited that my family had been open to try the medicinal use of mullein!
