Clipped this from another thread:

 Let them talk. They will shut up once you have learned enough to help them with the medicine you make from it!
:notworthy: I will let Patrick tell his story, but the first time I bought SIX bottles of vodka from the store near him, the clerk said, “Do you know the vet guy across the street?”

It was a bit awkward buying 6 cases of vodka at a time when I was a branch president.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentOk First, Are you buying the stuff to drink it? No.
When I buy They ask about my party and I tell them the truth. I make body care products, herbal tinctures and homemade Vanilla.
Usually gets some funny looks that is ok though.
Tinctures are what the pioneers used a before the doctors came along with modern medicines infancy.

This is what I think … D&C 89 says “strong drinks are not for the belly but for the washing of your bodies.”
Isn’t that sort of what a tincture does? Cleanses the body on the inside from germs, bugs, sickness., etc. Not a drink for the belly but a cleansing medicine…. Idk… just a thought. 🙂

Homestead InstructorThe WoW is a law of health. Tinctures are medicines. If you drank enough of a tincture to enter the realm of “drinking” alcohol, the herb overdose would be very dangerous in most cases.

That’s very true….. It should be measured in drops as opposed to cups and needs to be used with skill and judgement. Similar to the tobacco in vs. 8. It’s only when the things God has blessed us with are used in ways they were never intended to be used. Not sure if alcohol fits into one of God’s blessings (hahaha) but it does have benefits when used properly. Like anything else I suppose…. when abused it is no longer beneficial but becomes harmful and even deadly. I can think of a few of God’s amazing herbs that have become villianized not because the herb itself is bad but the abusive way people have used it, whether ignorantly or knowingly…. I suppose alcohol is no different.
