Hi everyone. I’m new here and creating my first post.

Although I am new to the school, I’m not new to herbal medicine. When I was a young mom, many years ago, I grew a decent herb garden and used many herbs for my family. One of my favorites was calendula (&/or plantain) salve for general scrapes and small wounds. I recently made a new batch with purchased herbs, since my garden last  year was started without herbs.

Please tell me your experiences with calendula for skin issues.

Welcome Holly!  I use my calendula salve for any kind of skin issue.   Dry hands & heels daily, cracked lips in winter, as well as a general moisturizer when needed.  I also use it for any kind of scrape or abrasion.   I’ve been sharing this salve with my daughters and grandbabies for the past few years.  They used it as a diapering salve when the grands were babies and now for scraped knees and such.  This year I made 2 salves: the plain calendula that I use daily and a “Boo boo” salve containing calendula, comfrey, lavender, marshmallow and yarrow.  I suspect this will become the go-to salve for the kiddos.

Welcome Holly! I think Calendula has become my favorite herb so far as it seems to be good for everything. I put it in a salve I’ve made that helps with everything already mentioned, as well as eczema and psoriasis.

This is great! I am new as well! Mainly I’ve been drying different herbs for tea mixes in the past. 2024 will be my first time making salves. 2023 was first time growing and drying Calendula. I have recently been gifted a block of beeswax and Queen of the thrones castor oil. So, feeling optimistic for this herbs possibilities 🙂

I’ve used calendula salve on cuts, scrapes and even minor burns. Last summer, I caught my arm on a raspberry briar and cut it pretty deeply. So, afterwards, I used my homemade calendula and chamomile salve on it for a few days and I only have 1 tiny little scar remaining…almost can’t see it at all! My daughter uses the same salve on eczema and swears that it helps get rid of the itch and dryness, too.
