StudentHi, First I want to say I love the format and humor used in these tutorials. Thank you for making them easy and enjoyable!
I do have a question, and I did search but came up with nothing…  I have heard that EO’s are not good for dogs. The people I heard this from said there was one line of EO’s that are safe. So my question is.. ARE EO’s safe for dogs and is there anything you need to be careful to look for?  I know one brand says look for ‘therapeutic’ even if you’re using it on yourself as there are some that may not be therapeutic? I realize this may be complicated and I apologize for that. But any insight would be appreciated as I have been avoiding using EO’s because we have a dog. Thank you!

StudentHi! Â Here’s the list from Doc Jones’s post under Essential Oils, (you can search the forum for “dogs and essential oils” to read the original). Â Essential oils are processed differently in pets’ livers causing toxicity. Â Doc advises caution even in running a diffuser with essential oils especially with smaller pets. Â Hope that helps

StudentHi,
I have seen in other places that lavender essential oil is toxic to cats in particular, but dogs also. I’m just mentioning it because I don’t see lavender in the lists. I have seen another veterinarian mention the use of lavender for dogs before too, though. I have actually diffused some of the oils mentioned around my dogs before I was aware that they were considered toxic. I am not aware of any adverse health conditions that they may have experienced in association with exposure to the oils, but it’s not like they were locked in a room where they were confined and had direct and prolonged exposure to the oils being diffused. I did see a woman who has a YouTube channel who was frequently diffusing both lemon and peppermint oil as well as home fragrance oils of unknown composition around her young mastiff. At one point, he developed a respiratory issue that may have been pneumonia. I can’t remember now, but it was potentially serious. I often wondered if it was because of the oils and home fragrances the dog was exposed to. He seems to have recovered. Just sharing for what it’s worth.
