In a YouTube lesson on making elderberry syrup, you mentioned that raw honey will lose its effectiveness if the hot water it’s mixed in is too hot. What is the maximum temperature the water should be in order to allow the raw honey to maintain its effectiveness? You also mentioned a similar effect on peppermint tea — what should the max temperature be for tea as well?
Thank you

As long as the honey isn’t boiled it’ll be fine. Peppermint too. You can use boiling water for the tea. Just don’t boil the herbs. Pour the water into the herbs and take it off the heat. Put a lid on it to to catch the volatile oils.
Cold infusion will make a stronger brew of plants high in essential oils.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
Watched your lesson and made this syrup for the first time a week ago. Just in time too… when a little bug was thinking of starting in the household, it hasn’t had the chance get worse. I also do a garlic honey ferment. Thanks a million for that elder syrup lesson!
