StudentI’m new too! I’m so excited to get started with this course. I’ve been dabbling with herbs for years, but I want to get serious about it so I can help others with their health issues.

Student
I would like to start a new topic re: Whole Food Plant Based, SOS-free (no processed sugar, processed oils, or salt) .

After viewing my first course on “Autoimmune & Leaky Gut” I posted:

Hello Dr. Jones and associates (and students),

Greetings and Happy New Year from a newly enrolled student to your Online Herb School.
I am eager to share with you the following:

My wife, Lili, and I have been on Whole Food Plant Based, SOS-free (no processed sugar, processed oils, or salt) for over 2 years. Our health has seen remarkable shifts and improvements.

An interesting observation: it was not until we started taking your Respiratory ASMA and Rest Easy daily for over 2 weeks that we feel something shifting towards the positive. It must be that the produce we get from the supermarket etc. has a significantly degraded nutrient profile compensated by the herbs.

Lili has been plagued with back spasms for around 2 decades. Nothing offers her such instant relief as NoMoSpzms.

Can’t wait to grow some of the recommended herbs come Spring.

With appreciation,

Wei

PS: My wife and I have been viewing YouTube videos and reading works of Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. T Colin Campbell, Dr. Neil Bernard, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Caldwall Essenstein, Dr. Douglas J. Lisle & Mr. Alan Goldhamer and believe that eating meat, eggs, and dairy is harmful to human health (and the environment). Therefore, I question that necessity and benefit of consuming bone broth and meat.

I will appreciate anyone’s opinion on this.
-

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorHello Wei, Welcome. :0)
In my years as a naturopath and herbalist, some of the saddest cases I’ve seen have been folks who have been vegetarians for a long time. It’s very difficult to get the vitamins and protein we need without some meat. That said, I’ve known some people that have done it successfully, but it requires a great deal of vigilance and commitment.
I do think that people eat way too much meat and dairy. But small amounts of good quality animal protein can be very beneficial. There are plenty of ways to get good animal protein that do no harm to the environment.
You’re right that eating anything commercially-raised (animal or plant) isn’t going to be the best source of nutrition.
I’m glad the herbs are helping. You’re right about the nutrition. That is an added benefit. Wild grown herbs contain a lot of micronutrients that can be hard to find in commercial food sources. :0)
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentGood evening everyone!
I am new as well and super excited to be here and start learning. I learned about Doc Jones from Carolyn with Homesteading Family. I loved the times he was on the Pantry Chat. He is an extremely funny man, but also very intelligent and I look forward to taking in and learning about everything he has available as I have a voracious appetite for knowledge, but especially knowledge that pertains to health, healing, and wellbeing. I hope to connect with some of you soon!
Health, Happiness & Blessings!

Homestead InstructorHi Yolanda,
We actually have a lot of South Africans in the school. :0)
My favorite plant is actually South African Portulacaria afra or baby jade or Spekboom as they call it in your neck of the woods. I usually just use it to make bonsai but it’s good for food and medicine too. I always nibble the clippings as I’m trimming my little spekboom bonsais. LOL

StudentHi, I’m excited to learn more about herbs (don’t have much clue and have not gardened before…want to start veggie gardening next year and maybe plant a herb or two lol) and how it can help in different ways…naturally. Saw Doc on Marjorie 3x and each time wanted to join his school to learn more and this time, finally jumped in. It’s like a whole new blessed world, learning another language in a very helpful and intriguing way! My husband is interested too but only wants to learn from what I tell him through what I have learnt…Can’t wait to graduate!

StudentHi, I am also new here! I am so excited to start. I am trying to understand how to navigate the system but I got this far so it should be easy cheesy. I also saw Doc Jones on Homesteading Family and got hooked on his videos. I’ve learned so much so far! Thanks Doc Jones! I would love to come visit sometime and go on an herb walk and workshop or something in the future. I love learning from you. I’ve been a gardener for some years and love my herbs and teas but want to learn how to make tinctures and other healing treatments. Cheers!
