What are some helpful things to do for nose bleeds? We live in a very dry climate and my son gets multiple nose bleeds a day sometimes, I have tried Chayenne powder in a glass of water and it has not been helping much.

Maybe try yarrow? Internally as tea, tincture, or powdered.  Or tea/dilute tincture on a cotton ball (that’s worked for my kid).

The bleeding formula has Yarrow, Bugleweed, Shepherd’s Purse. If you got some powder you could try it a number of ways – tea, tincture, etc.

Oh dear lord.  I was in the kitchen herbals lesson, and clicked on the download PDF and it brought me here.  Sigh

You said you live in a dry climate, and that is what is triggering the nose bleeds.  So instead of trying to affect the clotting mechanisms and vasoconstriction, try an environmental approach instead:  get a humidifier for your home/your son’s bedroom, and start coating his nasal passages with a mallow infusion.  Also have him do some steam treatments (towel over his head, inhaling through his nose over a cup of tea – I would use hyssop or horehound, personally, but that’s just me).  I think if you can stimulate the production of more nasal mucus, that will help keep things moist in there.

Yes, absolutely do what you can to humidify the home environment and drink extra water.   Have a backup plan like soaked cotton balls  when you can’t control the environment- winter time bus rides and school buildings were very drying.

I have been able to download all the Formulas & Formulations EXCEPT the Female section brought me here again.  Please try to fix that so I can go and download it also

                      thank you so much

Nettles is a good nutritive and has good vitamin K levels. For some folks It helps. I’d also make sure he was getting good levels of vitamin C, zinc etc…

Garden of life sells really good vitamins. I’d also get him some Omega-3 fatty acids. Barleans makes some great, tasty products kids will take.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

When we had nosebleeds as kids, my mom gave us rutin, which really helped. In fact, I take it now to strengthen weak blood vessels in my legs.

Another trick I learned from herbalist Kami McBride is to sniff (or use on a Qtip) of some infused oils in the lower nasal passages. A yarrow or cayenne infused oil might do it !

I sometimes get random gushers for what reason unknown to me. What I have found most effective is shepherd’s purse up the nose for immediate stoppage. I like to grind the dried herb into a powder so it’s not so bulky, however, the bulky works it just pokes up the nasal shaft a bit!! I keep ground up shepherd’s purse in my car in case I need it on the road, or in my pack while hiking or whatever. I have found it to be so fast acting that I like it better than yarrow or cayenne, neither of which has stopped bleeding as rapidly as shepherd’s purse. Perhaps I’m just lucky or my body likes it!! For what it’s worth….
