While in a discussion on another forum the subject of Oil Pulling came up. I did not know what it was and requested more information. Patrick sent this web link to me.

It is EXTRA simple in its implementation, but have a look see and see what you think.
Has anyone out there tried this and have a success story? If so, please start a thread on it so we can discuss it.

I’m interested to know more about it as well.

StudentMy sister-in-law had a relentless case of whooping cough last winter. The doctors didn’t have much to help her, and she was really down flat for over a month. She finally went to see an herbalist in her area to see if she could get any help. She put her on a formula that included osha (and probably several other herbs–that was the only one I remember), and taught her how to do oil pulling.
Later she told me the herbs seemed to strengthen her–but it was the oil pulling that she felt really got illness to move out of her, and get her back on her feet. She used coconut oil (just took a spoonful and let it liquify in her mouth) and then started doing oil pulling while she did her morning routine–for about 10-15 minutes. She was always amazed at how gunky it looked when she spit it out. As she got better, it became whiter and less colored. She also felt it really helped to balance her hormones, because she was using coconut oil. She had never really used herbal/natural medicine before this experience, but she told me it was the only thing that really helped.
I keep thinking I’m going to try this myself, but I never remember.

Homestead InstructorCoconut oil is wonderful stuff. It has an enormous number of health benefits in its own right.
Oil puling with it would be a lot tastier than some of the other alternatives.

I am still trying to get my head around HOW or WHY this works…………..
Two thoughts though:
One, you could do this with an oil infusion with your favorite FLAVOR of oil, like peppermint.
Two, you could do this with your needed herbal oil infusion and get a double duty affect.

StudentYes you can. I add EOs to mine all the time. I will be adding tinctures next. I should probably be doing that now for what is going on.

StudentI read an article that suggested there is a risk associated with oil pulling for someone who has fillings in their mouth. Do you all have any comments or information regarding this?

Any strong sucking activity can be a risk for popping out a filling. Swish gently.

StudentI like using your “Periodontal” mix with coconut oil for the oil pulling. It was very helpful with gentle swishing when I had a tooth surgically removed. :yahoo:
