On another forum, I found this post:

Is anyone familiar with the comfrey “oil” described by Lesley Bremness on p. 131 of The Complete Book of Herbs? It is made by packing dry comfrey leaves into a dark-colored glass jar and leaving them to age for two years. No other ingredients are added. After two years the “viscous amber liquid with some sediment” is poured off into a smaller container.

Further discussion reveals that ‘dry’ leaves, means fresh, not dehydrated, no dew or remaining water, after rinsing.

Original poster has used this preparation, with apparent internal healing.

Do ya’ll see any problems with this? Assuming absence of bird poop, etc.?

Seems like a long and unnecessary process.

A simple comfrey poultice should accomplish the same thing.

Wow. That’s a marvelous way to vastly over complicate and create a potentially dangerous product that won’t work any better than the fresh (or dried and re-hydrated) leaves applied directly to the wound.

Comfrey contains allantoin which does not increase or become more potent in any way by fermenting it for a couple of years…Just interweb nonsense Im afraid.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
