I have heard that onions and garlic are extremely toxic to cats (and dogs). Since they are very good for humans I use a lot of them in my cooking. My cat really likes to have little tastes of my soups and sauces, most of which contain both onions and garlic.
I thought animals had a natural tendency to steer clear of things that are not good for them. Is she deficient in this area or are those actually OK in small amounts? I know garlic is recommended for chickens, but apparently, it does not have the same beneficial effect in cats.
My question: Shall I cut her off completely from “licking the spoon” or is a little alright?
