        Hey Doc,

What worms does oregano help with and does it kill the worms or stop their growth or what?

        Thanks a ton.

So I also just found out that our dog has Girardia, wondering if using Oregeno Essential oil, diluted with a carrier oil would be effective. Giving 1-2 drops with Carrier oil 2 times daily. I looked at your formula and I don’t have 2 of the herbs. So im concerned that the recipe wont be effective.

I am sure I remember Doc saying that EO’s are bad for dogs.  I am guessing he would suggest a powder of tincture. I believe Sweet Annie or Wormwood might be one to consider.

Me too. I’m sure I’ve heard him say that. :0)

I wouldn’t use essential oils in dogs. There are lots safer ways to get rid of worms.

One of the key components of oregano is carvacrol, a phenolic compound that has  has demonstrated antiparasitic activity against different types of parasites, including worms. It may disrupt the integrity of the parasite’s cell membranes, leading to the death of the critter.

It also has other compounds like thymol, rosmarinic acid, and terpenes which have antiparasitic effects. These compounds may interfere with the metabolic processes or reproductive systems of parasites, inhibiting their growth or causing their elimination.

Oregano has shown effects against nematodes (round worms), cestodes (tapeworms) and trematodes (flukes). As far as I know it hasn’t been tested against regular toads…or frogs. Wait, never mind, those are toads not todes. :0?
