The perimeters of my yard are absolutely overrun this spring with this plant. “Pland.ID” online identified a photo as “Parietaria pensylvanica Muhl. ex Willd.” and indicated it is a member of the nettle family. Does anyone know anything about this “weed” — in particular, is it useful medicinally? Is it close enough to nettle to be interchanged medicinally? (My Urtica dioica is NOT growing very well this spring – so an effective substitute would be nice!) At the very least I need to get this invader under control… at worst, I need to do radical “yard surgery” before it seeds!  Thanks for your help!

Identified this in my yard edges as well – I can’t find any medicinal references, just a few gardeners note it’s young leaves were edible with a novel cucumber taste.

No significant medicinal use that I’m aware of.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
