I raise Heritage hogs… a few of my feeder pigs have a dry cough… temp, respiration, heart rate all within normal limits, growing well great appetite, normal activity… my vet says not to worry because they are healthy and will be going to freezer camp soon however I really don’t like the cough… I use rotation and haven’t had a parasite issue in years however I even wormed with ivermectin 10 days apart IM with no change… any imput would be appreciated

It appears that you are a very conscientious care giver. But, has anything possibly changed in their environment: moldy food, stagnant water, a rodent nest (active or abandoned), anything that could harbor mold or fungus? I would be looking in hidden and unseen places.

it seems I have 1 -3 pigs per group of piglets born (3-4 sows deliver within 3 days of each other averaging 40-68 piglets) that end up with the cough… doesn’t matter the time of year or housing… dry/dusty/ on pasture there is no common denominator… I fed nettle for a while thinking it might be allergies but there was no change

Homestead InstructorFor pigs I’d use the Silver Lining Line. #22 Respiratory
You could add #24 Immune Support too.
I have no financial connection with Silver Lining anymore but I helped develop their dog line years ago. Good people.

I forgot to add that these are NON confinement hogs… they are rotated on pastures supplemented with NON GMO hog pellets and dairy alfalfa when I don’t have pasture… I have used silver lining in the past for my horses would dosage be different???

That is great that you have access to non GMO alfalfa. It is getting harder to find everywhere.

I’m in Northern California… according to my hay guy they tried GMO alfalfa and it didn’t produce very well… they can get more cuttings and better quality from the non GMO so these farmers switched back to all NONGmo and claim they will stay NON GMO… the pig (dairy) alfalfa tests at 19-20% protein…

They come in piggy-sized bags.
