No it’s not that stuff you got in high school, this stuff is legal, and very very good.
Pineapple weed is abundant and makes a great nibble when working out in the yard as it’s never very far from you. As the name implies it’s pinapple-ly but with a floral tone to it. Makes a GREAT tea….a little like chamomile but I think it tastes much better. Would be fun to try to cook with, maybe a chinese-style chicken dish? I haven’t tried it myself and can’t say it’d hold it’s flavor being cooked, but if anyone wants to try, please let me know.

Homestead InstructorI’ll have to watch for that one. Don’t think I’ve seen it around here.
Have you seen it Steven?

I have seen it in California. I think it is too cold for it up here. Have to check into it. I do remember it having a pleasant smell while ripping it out of the ground there. You know what’s coming next, Patrick: ANOTHER WEED WE CAN’T PULL!!!! This one is pretty cute though.

We have it all over PA and NY. I would imagine it’d grow anywhere chamomile would…but don’t quote me on that. I’m working at identifying my whole yard so I have an excuse not to mow it.lol

StudentI’ve seen Pineapple weed in the Ashton Idaho area while camping with family. It’s plentiful along the river bank area–and smells divine. I’ve read in Peterson Field Guide “Western Medicinal Plants and Herbs” by Steven Foster and Christopher Hobbs that Pineapple Weed is used much like German Chamomile, and is very safe (except for those individuals who might be allergic to it). I just wish it grew close to home (Utah).
