StudentDr diagnosed 2 lymph nodes in ankle area that are plugged and seem to be infected. My previous experience with cysts & plugged lymph nodes were resolved with frankincense essential oil. He wants me to take an antibiotic but I am already allergic to the 4 main antibiotics. penicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline and sulpha/sulphur? and don’t want to try a new one. Currently I am using Frankincense essential oil and applying a peppermint/eucalyptus cream for the infection. Not sure how long it should take for results. They are less red and less painful but I don’t wat to overdo the Frankincense and develop a sensitivity to it. I am diabetic so am very cautious with things near my feet. Dr said it could be connected and to watch it closely, red streaks would be a problem. He also mentioned possibility of blood clots. Any suggestions?

Homestead InstructorCleavers is great for plugged up lymph nodes as is the Lymphatic Support formula. IF there’s active infection, I’d add an antibiotic formula and some Immune Support.
The recipes for all three are in the Infectious Disease Formulas lesson in the Formulas & Formulations Section.

StudentTopic AuthorThank you. I have Immunity Support, Calendula, Cleavers, Echinacea, Cayenne, Garlic, Myrrh and Oregon grape. Other than Immunity Support, I don’t have all of either of the other formulas. Is there a combination or alternative herb that would cover the ones I’m missing. I have numerous other herbs to work with.
Do you use peppermint & eucalyptus essential oils? I use these topically freqently because they are analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral & antifungal. Will this fight the infection in the lymph node? I’ve been using it morning and night and whenever it hurts. How can I tell when the lymph nodes are open. I’ve had one of them for about 3 months, the other for 1 1/2 months.

Homestead InstructorLooks like you have most of what you’d need herb wise. Have a look at the Immune System and Lymphatics lessons for other herb ideas.
I’m the wrong one to ask about personal experience with essential oils. I get blisters if I even touch most of them and can hardly breathe if I’m in the same room. Long story. LOL

StudentTopic AuthorWill go back to those lessons. I’ve been struggling with accessing the lessons on the new web site. Sometimes I can locate them and sometimes the page that lists them just don’t show up. I expect I’m not starting on the right page. Video lessons are nice but I don’t always have access so I’m trying to get the printed forms to refer too.
So sorry your body doesn’t tolerate essential oils. That’s where I started but I want to grow most of the herbs I use in my back yard. Have you ever combined peppermint leaves with eucalyptus leaves?

StudentTopic AuthorI finally completed sessions on immune systems and lymphatics and have some follow-up questions. Thank you for getting the downloadable pdf on the page – it helped a lot.
I have both immunity support & lymphatic support (I missed that one before). But need to do some substituting for Bug Buster.
Since the other formulas include echinacea and one has calendula, do I need to do more?
I have Garlic for Bug Buster (fresh & freeze-dried)- dose freeze-drying destroy the benefits of garlic – after freezing to -30 or -40, temp goes to 115 degrees ?
I have additional echinacea and calendula
I have myrrh essential oil – can I mix that with the herbs? Any good alternatives for: Gumweed, , Oregon Grape, Chaparral?
I’m beginning immunity support & lymphatic support tonight planning on tea – hoping to see some results by Monday in time for my Drs visit.
Can these all be mixed together?

Homestead InstructorYou can take those together but I wouldn’t mix the actual tinctures together.

StudentTopic AuthorI’ve been taking immunity support and lymphatic support – not mixed but one after the other. Sometimes as tea and others mixed in unsweetened applesauce. Although it has faded a little, it doesn’t seem to be seriously improving. Dr. said to keep an eye on it. Any thoughts?

StudentTopic AuthorUpdate: 1 year later. I took the above for about one month & just didn’t get consistent positive results. As time went on, there seems to be a valley going in a slightly uphill direction right to left. The area is a reddish color and although there are smaller bumps (lymph nodes) than originally, it seems there is just bone below the skin. No fat. And there is now a third bump that is tender above the 2nd bump and a valley is forming at the edge of it. There is no red there. A few months ago my husband was diagnosed with cellulitis for a similar looking spot on his left leg just above his ankle. I’m concerned that maybe mine is something else. Any ideas to consider?
