My blood work came back with Prediabetic Diagnosis.  My wife has changed my diet and not I have to work on an exercise program for me.  Since I retired from the Military I sort of became lazy with physical fitness.  I live in the middle of nowhere Texas so it is HOT right now.  Any ideas besides indoor cycle, treadmill, and total gym.  The total gym is the only exercise equipment I haven’t figured out how to hang laundry on.  Thanks in advance!

Hi there. I have found amazing exercise programs with Miranda Edmonds-White. Go to You Tube. Super easy anyone can do it no matter your fitness or pain levels. Works every muscle and joint in a gentle manner. She was a professional ballerina and now trains all of us at different fitness/health levels and top Olympic athletes. I highly recommend her. Have a look at the Pancreas lesson. There’s some good information there that might be helpful as well.

Hey there, having a work out routine at home is a fantastic idea. We have recently implemented a rebounder and a balance board. The rebounder has been studied by NASA and was determined the most efficient way to condition and recondition astronauts before and after missions. It is said that 10 minutes on the rebounder is equivalent to 20-30 minutes of jogging.  The balance board will strengthen your legs, core and brain. Studies have shown using a balance board improves focus and memory. Both are fun and take the boring right out of your routine😋. I hope this helps.

Hey Steven, I had test results that where coming up as pre-diabetic a few years ago. And along with diet, I ended up taking the stevia supplement from nutramedix. It really helped me out, and I am no longer pre-diabetic so maybe give something like that a try! I know this is not a exercise program, but we are multi-dimensional beings and this supplement really helped me out.

Also, nettle has been known to lower levels. It’s a great herb to take.

Nettle has some great properties for diabetic issues.

I was also diagnosed with pre diabetes about a year and a half ago.  Others were just a shocked to hear of my diagnosis as I don’t really fit the stereotype.  Found out that post menopause and decreased muscle tone play a role.  Lost my sweet tooth 😉 with a Blood Sugar Reset Program run by Functional Medicine Nutritionist, Being Brigid.  Good for killing the sweet tooth!  Now I am starting HIIT, High Intensity Interval Training, and just learned about rebounding, both through Barbara O’Neill on YouTube.  I will now look into the balance board after reading Amy’s post.

Good for you! Barbara O’Neill is so knowledgeable! And I’m really impressed how you are making some changes to improve your health!

This is good information to know Debbie. I am in perimenopause and want to watch out for issues that it might cause like pre-diabetes. I will look into that Blood Sugar Reset Program.

I’m diabetic and know I need to build muscle.  So anything that builds muscle is good.   But you also have to enjoy it!  So my exercise of choice is Qi Gong and although Qi Gong does help build muscle (especially in the legs), I do add upper body strength training.  But the Qi Gong keeps me keep going.  If it’s okay to say on here….   I am subscribed to the video course at Holden QiGong.  It is something I can do at home (or most anywhere really) and the only equipment I purchased was a workout/yoga mat so my feet don’t slip in some of the wide stance exercises.  But there are plenty of free options out there too.  Wishing you the best!

p.s. I’m a new student doing my homework of replying to a post.  As I’m not very knowledgeable in most of this stuff this was the first post I saw that I actually had some experience.  But after I posted it I realized this is 2 years old!   Sorry!   But if you do read this, you’re 2 years into this diagnosis…   I hope you are doing well.   And now I just edited my first post! thank you 🙂
