Just something I learned by accident when grinding up cayenne pepper. The powder gets airborne easily and it REALLY burns when you sniff it up your nose. It might be handy to use a mask or bandana to cover your nose and mouth.
And when I was processing (pressing) – I did wear gloves for the actual pressing, but when I was washing all the stuff from pressing (in the sink of soapy water), I didn’t wear gloves. Boy howdy – my 110k and my 250k HU cayenne really got my hands burning. So note to self – wear gloves for every part of cayenne processing!
I don’t know the heat level of my peppers but I didn’t have any trouble with it burning my skin. Maybe I was too busy press in wet cloth to my burning nose to notice my skin!
