I am working on diet and herb supplements for a friend with psoriasis. I have several herbs in mind that may help. My first thought was a whole body cleanse because just treating it topically may push the issue further into the body. Any thoughts?

In my experience, psoriasis is almost always the result of an overworked liver. Have a look at The Skin lesson in the Body Systems Section.  Slides #43-47.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

I have a client with similar struggles, and also plan to address liver health (I will also be recommending supportive measures for his gut health as well, as there definitely seems to be a weakness in that area).

My brother recently, a years or so ago, got diagnosed with psoriasis. The doctor he went to said it was an autoimmune disease. Why doesn’t a grumpy liver come up when you research psoriasis? Is is an autoimmune problem?

I want to try giving him some burdock root and milk thistle seeds.
