Hi,
I’m a new student recently purchasing the course. We are looking to buy an additional miniature horse. We like a lot about the one we are considering but he has rain rot. I’ve only had one other horse years ago (an Arabian) and recently purchased a mini horse for the first time so have known nothing about this. We weren’t told about it until the second visit with the horse when my friend scratched a spot and it bled and she wanted to know and we were told this. It’s been about a month or so and I asked for photos if it was healing up and these two photos is what I got. The first shows the spot on the right and the smaller photo is that infected area enlarged. It seems like the owner would have taken a photo of the whole horse because it seems like some is cut out of the photo frame. I’ve talked to several people and they said rain rot isn’t a ‘deal killer’ but we are going to train these two horses for therapy work and I want to know truth about if there is anything to keep this stuff away (in addition to keeping them dry and drying them off if they get wet) and if there is anything that will heal this up. And, who thinks it’s a ‘deal breaker’ and who doesn’t and why. Thank you! p.s. I CANNOT figure out how to attach the photo. Any way? I hit ‘insert’ and ‘image’ and it gives a box asking for source, image description, dimensions.
