StudentHas anyone used raspberry leaf to strengthen the uterus again postpartum? I’ve had multiple pregnancies back to back and am looking to strengthen myself in whatever ways I can before becoming pregnant again.

StudentI used raspberry alternated with nettle for iron and uterus conditioning. While pregnant I was cautioned to not over do the raspberry, which is why I alternated between raspberry and nettle. Between pregnancies I drank it too but used other things as well. After nursing (breastfeeding) was through I like yarrow. Because it is astringent it’s not something to use during pregnancy or nursing, but because it’s astringent it is great for helping pull things back.

Studenthi, can I recommend raspberry leaf tea to my sister in law, who is trying to get pregnant, even though she has a history of low iron? If not, can you recommend other herbs that helps to strengthen the uterus but not lose iron in the process? Thank you

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorI think everyone with a uterus would benefit from raspberry leaf tea as a tonic.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentI dont think blackberry can be substituted for red raspberry as the properties are different, however blackberry leaves may have their own benefits
