        Hello all,

my name is Claire! I’m one of docs daughters. I’m working with Jenni on some content for the stinging nettle monograph. The blog post from Dr. Rose has us excited to find new ways to incorporate stinging nettle on a daily basis. We’ve been looking in to some recipes to add, but we would love to hear if any of you have a beloved recipe or culinary use for our dear friend stinging nettle.

If you post a recipe and would like to be featured we would love to feature you! If you would like your recipe to be left anonymous please let us know.

        Please post below 🙂

          Hi Claire,

What a fun adventure! I have heard of folks steaming nettles, retaining the water , making a puree from the steamed nettles and adding it to their noodle dough then with the reserved water cooking the noodles.

I have made a tea from nettles to help stimulate hair growth which isn’t cullinary nor a normal daily thing – but is a good thing and works well when women have experienced hair loss with a pregnancy.

            Nettle and saurkraut omelet.

This recipe is one of my top favorite spring time breakfasts.  As soon as those plants start going on picking them fresh. Combined with the zip from saurkraut in a savory egg dish…nothing better and more fresh tasting.

Saute the washed nettle leaf in a little bit of oil. Similar to wilting spinach. Then add you well blended eggs. I like to add a bit of water to make a fluffy omelet. Then add strained saurkraut to one half of the egg, along with cheese or onion if you like. Fold egg I half. Making sure to flip to evenly cook both sides. And viola you have a delicious breakfast.

I would love to be featured 😊 is a fun recipe that surprises people with its flavor

Thanks for raising the question. I haven’t stumbled on a scrumptious recipe for nettles yet . We have been freeze drying, powdering and making capsules or mixing it with other green powders for smoothies to get more in our diet.
