Hi, I was so excited to learn that Cottonwood is part of the willow family or closely related to willow, birch, poplar, etc. We just had one that was extremely large fall this last year. We are processing it now. I have learned that if you take willow bark and boil it down a bit that the “tea” concentrate can be used as a very good rooting hormone. I was wondering if that is the same for cottonwood. I’m aware of the aspirin similarity, but not sure what makes it a successful rooting hormone. I love propagating plants in many ways. My favorite way is air rooting or taking a clipping and putting it in a glass with water and watching it make roots. Thanks for any insights you are willing to share!
