        Are rosemary stems medicinal?

I use them if they’re green and bendy. Otherwise I separate the leaves.

          Is bendy a word?

Do you know if the tougher stick-like stems still have medicine in them?

I couldn’t find any detailed information on the medicinal benefits of rosemary’s hard stems. But some recipes recommend using them as skewers for grilling kabobs. If it flavors the meat, it may still have medicinal benefits. However, it’s tough to chew.

If it isn’t young fresh and bendy, don’t bother using it. Wood is rarely medicinal at all and certainly not as medicinal as the green stuff on a plant.

How good of a cholagogue is rosemary? Would it be a good herb for histamine elimination in an allergy formula?

it doesn’t have much of a reputation as a cholagogue. I’d use one of the others.

Doc, I read from Aviva Romm that rosemary is “perhaps the queen of detox seasonings” because it helps the liver detox. Could you explain how rosemary helps detox?

I don’t know much about rosemary, but it seems that burdock root, dandelion root, and oregon grape are more commonly used to help the liver eliminate histamines.
