Hello, new student here. Thought I would share what has helped me with my seasonal allergies and to some extent with my allergies to pet dander.  After a lot of experimenting I have found that drinking a cup of strong Alfalfa and Nettle tea 2-3 times a day and taking 3 alfalfa capsules every 4 hours has been a great help.

          Good work Rebecca.

Nettles is quite good for allergies and alfalfa is a great nutritive. If you have a break through allergy day, you could add some Brigham tea (Ephedra viridis or E. nevadensis) as well.

You could also add some burdock. Burdock (Arctium lappa) helps the liver to break down and eliminate histamines and is safe as a daily tonic. :0)

Doc, would the Burdock “tonic” be in the form of a tincture I assume?  Is Nettle also considered a daily “tonic”?

Both nettles an burdock can be taken daily as tonics. Doesn’t matter how you take them but if you take the powder in a smoothie or some suck, you get the benefit of all that good fiber too. Your gut bugs love it.

Is the ephedra viridis found on blm land near Beatty Nevada a good source to make a tincture for allergies? It is very short and the branches are very thin, like maybe 1/8 inch thick. All the shoots are green.

Yup. Ephedra viridis is one of my favorites. :0)

Thank you!  I will be trying that the next time I have one of those days.

I only have access to stinging nettle as of right now, if I wanted to treat my seasonal allergies would you suggest getting alfalfa also… or is nettle fine? Is there much more alfalfa will do that nettle can’t do?

Stinging nettle is much better than the alfalfa. I’d be happy with that.
