Good morning!  I realize that copper is not an herb; however, I thought this might be a great place to find an answer to my question.  Is copper toxic to sheep or is it important for fertility/conception, etc.? We have read and heard both ways – that it’s great or that it’s toxic.  Would appreciate any advice as we are new to raising sheep.  Thank you.

They’re both right. Like all other minerals, nutrients and even water, copper is essential to critical body functions and life-threateningly toxic is over dosed.

Sheep seem more susceptible to copper toxicity than other species. I’d stick with professionally formulated products or rations when it comes to giving copper to sheep because in the case of copper and sheep, it’s really easy to get too much of a good thing.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
