I’ve been doing some reading on dry mouth and both slipper elm and marshmallow keep coming up. Some sites say they can be interchangeable other sites say even though they are similar they are different. Can anyone give me some more information about them and which one might be best for me to try?

They are very similar medicinally. Slippery elm is a threatened species. Either one will work fine for your application.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

With marshmallow, is the whole plant medicinal? Are the flowers and leaves as good as the root? (With mallow and hollyhock, the roots seem to taste the best:)

On all of those kids (marshmallow, mallow, hollyhock), the root is better. The leaves can be used in a pinch but don’t have as much mucilage.
