Hello! I read-on line- Nettles, Red Raspberry and Alfalfa are a good tea for helping with labor. Is this a good combination and what are the ratios?  I also have questions about using Licorice root for gestational diabetes. Any thoughts?

I know nothing–just a beginner, but for my last pregnancy I drank tea with these three herbs for the last trimester.  I just dumped some of each into hot water without any measurements.  I hope someone can answer more specifically!  I found that the red raspberry leaf actually gave me stomach cramps (potentially early contractions) around 32 weeks, so I stopped it until 36 weeks and didn’t have any issues!

NORA tea (nettles oat straw red raspberry leaf and alfalfa ) has traditionally been used for nutritional support during pregnancy and many, many midwives (including myself) recommend it to their clients.  These are very nourishing herbs and yes, could be sad to “strengthen” the mother for birth.  I suggest reviewing the  monographs or sections specific to these plants in the course.  I encourage clients to aim for 1-2 quarts/day and have then make a strong infusion in a covered mason jar with lid on in the evening, let steep overnight, strain and drink through the next day.  Peppermint can be added if someone doesn’t like the taste

When you say strong infusion do you recommend 2 teaspoons or more per quart? Thanks in advance.
