        Hello Everyone!

Can anyone tell me what herb I could substitute for cornsilk  in the K-9 Urinary Tract Support Formula. (My dog is allergic to corn and she gets facial swelling if she eats it.) Will the other herbs in that formula still be of benefit for a UTI if  I make it without cornsilk? It is somewhat frustrating to have this student forum and never get answers to questions. So, thank you to anyone and all that reply.

You could double the marshmallow root if you wanted, but I’d just leave the cornsilk out.  It has soothing properties same as marshmallow root.

If you don’t want the corn silk, I’d just make the formula without it. It’ll work just fine that way.

THat said, the risk of corn silk harming a dog is really low and has more to do with obstructions from them eating the long strands than from inherent toxicity. Powdered herbs aren’t going to cause those sorts or issues.

I’ve use the UTI formula, as is, in dogs for many years in the vet practice.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
