StudentMy friend’s daughter is having terrible pains. She is very tall and can’t seem to get relief. Does anyone have suggestion for herbs/blends that might help? I’m thinking No More Spazms or Hops. Thank you

StudentI have been experimenting with my tincture of hops and the relief comes pretty quick from the sore muscles I’ve been putting it on. I would definitely give it a shot with that and see what happens

StudentBefore I began a student of medicinal herbalism, I was the owner and formulator for a high-end lotion manufacturing company. We were doing great until COVID came along and made it no longer profitable for me to do business.
During that time, I developed a jojoba based cream that had 12% Epsom salt that I had diluted into the water portion of the cream. It is also known as magnesium sulfate. Epsom salt is a natural muscle relaxer and it was very effective as a rescue cream from very painful muscle and leg cramps. One of the families that bought my cream told me that their 13 year old son found tremendous relief from that cream.
You can probably find a natural magnesium suflate cream on AZ. If it has enough active ingredient in it, it should really help.

StudentHi Susan,
Would you be willing to share your jojoba based cream recipe with me? I make my own comfrey salve but I am looking for a cream that would provide relief for muscle pain. Thanks, Ellie

StudentHi – we have tried the epsom salt baths and magnesium creams as suggested but they haven’t my daughter with her leg pains (she’s 10) – they hurt most of the day if she’s not VERY distracted. we took her to the dr to rule out cancer or other things and he thinks it’s just growing pains even though she gets them at all times of the day. We have also tried bananas, magnesium supplement, electrolytes, calcium, CBD/EO salves, heating pad, ice, massage, baths, detox baths, Mag phos, vitamin d & other vitamin/mineral supplements, EOs, stretching, NLP & visualizing the pain gone, hypnosis… a few things will temporarily (like 10-15 min) … i am starting to worry it’s not growing pains but because the pain changes locations in the legs and it’s not always the same leg … but it’s the only thing that makes sense! so i am wondering if there are other herbs we should try… should we try the hops or the joint support formula? because i was told by the dr the growing pains are caused by the cartilage stretching not the muscles… soooo I’m wondering if everything I’ve been doing for the muscles is pointless! they have been getting so much worse and she literally moans and cries a few times a day about it! i don’t know what to do for her. thank you in advance for your response. i am loving the course! it’s already been really helpful

StudentOh, I’m so sorry! Your poor kiddo!
My 11yo has been having some of the same issues, though not as severe. Good (home-made) bone broth is what we were told by our Naturopath. If I were in your shoes, I’d keep going with organic leafy green veggies, (juicing!) and bone broth, both 3-4 times per day for a few days, then I’d lighten up to a couple of treatments per day (so there’s not a rebellion in the house! 🙂 )
Juicing – we do spinach with something like apple to sweeten. Also, we do much better when there’s no sugar in the diet. Sugar causes a pH imbalance which the body responds to by harvesting calcium from the bones and muscles.- ouch! Also, I’d switch over to a Naturopath. They have different options than mainstream medicos.
I pray this helps!

Studentthank you harmony that’s really helpful! we have also been exploring that she could have a connective tissue disorder, the more i research EDS the more the symptoms seem to fit because she has a BUNCH of things going on. Naturpath is a great idea too… I will need to find one near me. thanks a bunch for the ideas – i mostly have homemade chicken bone broth – does it matter if it’s chicken or beef?
ps this is what EDS is – https://www.theilcfoundation.org/what-is-eds/
