This is a post that ties in with one that was sent yesterday by Ann Scheible (sister-in-law) The forum is daunting to begin with and she sent a reply to another topic rather than starting a new post. We’re both new to the course and are fledgling herbalist wanna-bes (well Ann probably left the nest a long time ago and I’m still trying to figure out how to peck my way out of the shell). I thought I would make a new post so yesterdays topic of ‘nerve pain’ didn’t confuse the issue.
Her husband (my brother) suffered leg damage from a 5 day dose of a Fluoroquinolone antibiotic a few years ago. The antibiotics cause such widespread damage they even named the problem (Fluoroquinolone Toxicity). I had read that one of the main complaints in the class action lawsuits against the drug makers was the tendency to rupture or tear tendons, especially the Achilles. I think the cause was circulatory damage in the lower legs that reduces blood flow. Tom was spared the ruptured Achilles, but must pound or use a percussion massager on his calves before going to bed. He’s limited to about 2 hours sleep before having to get up and repeat the process.
At the risk of tainting the creative thoughts of those who may respond, my unlearned thinking would say the problem would go along with circulatory issues. While he is active during the day, the problem isn’t obvious. But as he winds down in the evening, circulation problems would be more obvious from lack of activity to keep the blood pumping. But, I’m not sure that the brain might not send the same signal if the problem was actually nerve damage or damage to the tendons.
Has anyone had any experience with the Fluoroquinolone Toxicity?

Homestead InstructorIf I were floxed, I’d do this:
– Eat a really clean diet with lots of antioxidants
Take chaga because it has really a lot of anti0xidants
Take Joint Support to decrease inflammation
Take Memory & Alertness because several of the herbs in that formula improve circulation and help to heal injured nerves.
Take Teasel because it also has remarkable traits for nerve healing.
Build up my gut flora with probiotics and prebiotics (see the Prebiotic Formula)
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
