Hello. I just registered myself on a couple of forums in an attempt to find some advice. My dog has an enlarged heart and has been prescribed an ACE inhibitor. Since these medications are hard to combine with anything, I have chosen to help my dog by natural methods. I came across a herbal formula for heart health with good reviews, but cannot get my hands on it where I live. I have gathered all the included herbal tinctures and was hoping someone with experience could help me with the ratios. These are common herbs and I’ve listed them below. Some of these herbs I have used by themselves for me and for my dog before, but never in a formula with many ingredients.

I am perfectly aware of the risks of not consulting a professional , but we live on a mediterranean island with only one veterinarian(not wiling to help me except for the white pills), and no holistic or homeopathic ones. Next to this herbal formula I am using other things, amino acids, foods, etc. to strengthen my dogs heart and body.

Many of these herbs have minimal toxicity, but I’m aware that too much can be counterproductive.

The formula dosage is 1 drop per kilo of bodyweight, two(2) times per day.

        Herbs in recipe minus ratios

Mayblossom (Hawthorne) berry, buds and leaf (Crataegus spp.)

        Arjuna bark (Terminalia arjuna)

        Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)

        Nettle herb (Urtica dioica)

        Fo-ti root (Polygonum multiflorum)

        Schisandra fruit (Schisandra chinesis)

        Gotu kola herb (Centella asiatica)

Ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinalis) Note by manufacturer that the amount of ginger is small and only for promoting circulation.

Please let me know if you would like to help us out.

        Thanks, Simon & Barty

        Thanks, Simon.

          Hi Simon,

          What drug(s) specifically was prescribed?

          Is he taking them?

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
