StudentHi, I really came across some “powdered tinctures”. This seems to be an extra concentrated version of powdered herbs that are used in supplements. Anybody know what the conversion rate is between powdered herbs vs powdered tinctures? Are powdered tinctures too strong for daily use?

StudentWell, that led me down a rabbit hole.. now my brain hurts. I hope Doc will chime in here, but my best guess would be that the so called powdered tincture would be much more potent and would require a much smaller dose for daily use. I did find a crazy YouTube video that dropped my jaw.
Because it seems like a bit of a hack job I won’t post the link, but will tell you to go to you tube and search for ” how to make medicinal mushroom dual extract powder” posted by Spore n’ Sprout

StudentTopic AuthorWow, I watched it. Way too many steps, in my opinion. I think it’s basically an extract that gets freeze-dried, so you would think it would be extra concentrated.

StudentMy freeze dryer came with instructions that stated emphatically that alcohol should never be freeze dried.

Homestead InstructorSo I guess basically what we’re doing is making an alcohol tincture, then removing all the alcohol by evaporation (freeze drying) so that we can successfully eliminate all the preservative properties in the medicine and restore it’s valuable attribute of having a one year shelf life like it had before we tinctured it.
It would also be much more concentrated so that the windows of safety for overdosing would become more minuscule too which is very good…unless someone wants to be safe I guess.
Then, if we wanted it to have a shelf life of over a year and a dosing level that wasn’t predisposed to overdosage, all we have to do is add vodka.
Wait….what?
