Hello, I’m wondering how you all handle treating multiple chronic conditions at the same time.

As an example, my cholesterol is high enough that I need to “do something,” so I’ve started on the cholesterol formula. I take 1/2 tsp twice a day, Monday through Saturday. I’m also just a pound or so over what is considered a healthy BMI, and plan to drop about 10-15 pounds.

I’ve also had chronic pain issues for 40+ years. Lots of muscle and joint pain, headaches, etc. I’m in pain literally every day. Thankfully, I cope with it pretty well and most people who know me have no clue. BUT, relief is a good thing, and I do find NoMoSpazms, Joint Support, and HeadAke formulas all helpful.

However, since I am already taking the cholesterol formula every day, I only take stuff for pain when it’s really bad. I’m not sure that I should be taking it all the time?

There are other things that I anticipate coming, due to age. As an example, the strong bones formula would probably be appropriate, especially if I want to prevent osteoporosis, rather than waiting until it happens and trying to fix it. (I’m 63 now, so will go for my bone density scan in 2 years. I’m very small boned, and there are other factors that makes it more likely.) But I’m assuming that would also be something to take on a regular basis, long term.

The point is, especially since I’m avoiding pharmaceuticals (so far so good), and since I’m in my 60s, the potential for needing a lot of things simultaneously is pretty high, and I’m not sure the best way to handle that.

Since I posted this more than a week ago, I thought I’d bump it up since it got buried. 🙂

            Good bumpin’ Rebecca. :0)

It’s fine to take several formulas together. I would recommend though that you take a day off every couple of weeks.

Have a look at the Pain Management lessons if you haven’t already. Lots of good info. there.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Thanks so much, Doc Jones. I’m not taking any herbs on Sunday unless I really need to. This way I have an automatic day off weekly without thinking too much about it.

                Hi Rebecca,

Thank you for your post. I was also wondering the same thing! I have multiple chronic issues too. I am dealing with ezcema, fibromyalgia and pain (from a work related injury that happened  in 2019 which pretty much ended my career in the medical field! Workmen’s comp was worthless and make it so I wasn’t able to get surgery in the appropriate time span…! I am still dealing with the pain after a hamstring rupture with avulsion {where the muscle pulls off the bone} and other muscles in my leg thigh, and calf were damaged.) So, like you I wanted to know if I could combine a few different formulas at the same time to try and cover some of my issues. Getting up in years is difficult, but it is a blessing to have people like you and others on this forum, to learn from. I pray that your formulas will help with your issues. Blessings for wonderful outcomes for you!

Suzanne, thank you for your kind words. I’m so sorry to hear you are dealing with multiple heath issues. I think it is “normal” as we age, but hopefully with all of the great information we have available to us here, we can overcome many of these challenges. I’m very motivated because my husband and I live with my 92-year-old mom, and it’s much harder to deal with things naturally since she’s already on several prescription drugs. I’m hoping to avoid going down that same path for as long as possible. I think we’re on the right track! I wish you the best as we travel along similar journeys.

As my dear mom used to say, “Getting old ain’t for sissies.” 🙂 That has become a mantra in our family. I hope to learn a lot to control the different health problems.

Shannon, so true! People in my family tend to live a really long time (one of my aunts recently passed away age 102, and a few months later another one passed away just shy of 100). While long life is great, it is also hard, or at least can be. I’m hoping to be able to stay in good health as long as possible!

Hello, new student here! I’m working on my student forum assignment lol.

I’m having my husband start the 7 week cleanse.  He has metabolic issues ex: HBP, Pre diabetes, High cholesterol and triglycerides, moderate heart disease.  I saw advice in this thread that you can use different herbs at the same time for different conditions. Does this still apply if you’re on a cleanse?
